I challenge all christians to show me even one scripture from the very bible that claim to obey and follow where God at anytime condemns a man for having more than one wife. I find this practice of God very strange if He was so against a man having more than one wife why did He do this,"2Sa And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man.   It’s Official: Mormon Founder Had Up to 40 Wives. and accounts of how Smith translated the Book of Mormon, women who have been divorced or widowed cannot be sealed to more than one man.

Since this is now more clearly revealed than ever, it is more important than ever to renounce polygamy and hold fast to the original intention of marriage as one man, one woman — one Lord, one church — as long as they both shall live. 5) It is required of elders that they be the husband of one wife (1 Timothy ).   No-one who has more than one wife may take responsibility in the church. So to answer your question, we can answer that the Bible teaches clearly that a man may have only one wife. If a person was married to two wives as an unbeliever, because tradition allowed it, and has since accepted Jesus as his Saviour, he will not be prevented from.

It usually involves one husband with several wives and, more often than not, is affiliated with religion. Polyamory, which is frequently confused with polygamy, is different. Polygamy can be of two types. One is Polygamy where a man marries more than one woman, and the other is polyandry, where a woman marries more than one man. In Islam, limited Polygamy is permitted; whereas polyandry is completely prohibited. Now coming to the original question, why is a man, allowed to have more than one wife? 2.

Daynes provides an intimate view of how Mormon doctrine and Utah laws on marriage and divorce were applied in people's lives. MORE WIVES THAN ONE, however, breaks new ground on many different fronts simultaneously.

Overall, it provides the first comprehensive and fully convincing scholarly analysis of the origin, development, and dissolution of Mormon plural marriage during the 19th century/5.

Three Wives, One Husband on Channel 4 follows the life of Enoch, who is happily married to wives Catrina and Lillian and is courting a year-old nanny Lydia Rose Credit: Channel 4. If a husband were owned by more than one wife, the ownership of him by those wives would be shared, common or joint ownership, as demonstrated by the term idios in 1 Corinthians We understand that a master can have more than one servant, but a servant can only have one master.

It is instructive that, toward the end of Solomon’s life, God used him to write one more book, which we find in the Bible. The book of Ecclesiastes gives us “the rest of the story.” Solomon throughout the book tells us everything he tried in order to find fulfillment apart from God in.

Paul also said: “But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband” (1 Corinthians ).

Again, Paul said in 1 Timothy “Now a bishop must be above reproach, the husband of one wife.” Thus, if the church leader has more than one wife, he is not above reproach. The Bible’s only aboutwords long*, which means Moses wrote a little more than 20% of the Bible.

That’s incredible. In word count, Moses stands a good head and shoulders above all the other writers. And if you consider all five books of the Pentateuch to be one five-fold book, that means Moses wrote the longest book of the Bible.

Who had the most wives in history. Typically around the world, marriage is between two people. However, in some cases, men have intentionally married more than one woman.

And in even fewer cases, men have married many more than one woman. Here are just some of the men in history who have had the most wives. Polygamy (from Late Greek πολυγαμία, polygamía, "state of marriage to many spouses") is the practice of marrying multiple spouses.

When a man is married to more than one wife at a time, sociologists call this a woman is married to more than one husband at a time, it is called a marriage includes multiple husbands and wives, it can be called a group marriage.

The value of owning more books than you can read while explaining to my wife that it's for a good cause. he found he could only read ab books if he read one book a Author: Kevin Dickinson.

Non-fiction books where the wife kills a husband. Score A book’s total score is based on multiple factors, including the number of people who have voted for it and how highly those voters ranked the book.

Moses had two wives as well. The Mosaic Law likewise accommodated the practice of marrying more than one wife, including captured prisoners from foreign conquests ( Author: Gregory Alan Thornbury.

Some Bible commentators have suggested that the Lord allowed men to have more than one wife or several concubines during the period from the Great Flood until the Old Covenant in order to build up the world's population (which had obviously been decimated by the Flood), but from the time of Moses receiving the legal package on Mount Sinai, concubinage was banned.

Indeed, the nation Israel comes from the offspring of the four “wives” (2 wives, 2 concubines) of Jacob. In times of old, believers had more than one wife, all at the same time.

Today, even Christians have more than one wife, one at a time, by way of divorce. Lamech was the first to have more than one wife (Genesis23), but he was a wicked man, a murderer.

Abraham had more than one wife (Gen. )and because of it, there were problems. Solomon had wives and concubines (1 Kings ) and he started serving false gods.

Limited polygamy (one man married to more than one woman) was permitted during this era of Israel's history. While the Bible names seven women as David's spouses, it's possible that he had more, as well as multiple concubines who may have borne him unaccounted-for : Cynthia Astle.

As ofhowever, women who have died may be sealed to more than one man. Inthe LDS Church created a new policy that a woman may also be sealed to more than one man. A woman, however, may not be sealed to more than one man while she is alive. She may only be sealed to subsequent partners after both she and her husband(s) have died.

10 times in history when polyamory was surprisingly embraced traditional marriage,” but the Good Book is full of instances where have more than one wife, depending on one’s caste. If Author: Anna Pulley. It cannot be understood as a command that no man can ever take more than one wife.

So, if a man has multiple wives and becomes a Christian, what is he supposed to do? If polygamy is illegal where he lives, he should do whatever is necessary to submit to the law (Romans ), while still providing for his wives and children. It was the fact that Solomon allowed some of his wives to turn his heart away from the Lord, just like Uriah's wife did with David, that resulted in sin or evil.

It was not polygamy that was evil. The Book of Mormon explains that only when God commands it can a man have more than one wife at a time. Now, let's return to the second chapter of Jacob.
